Design and Manufacturing

Answers to the most common questions about our creative process.

Where are the decorations and bookends made? +

All deLorentis creations are designed and manufactured in Warsaw, Poland. As a French designer based in Poland — in the heart of the European Union — I founded Tolonensis Creation, a studio that designs and produces every collection locally. This ensures European production, rigorous quality control, and authentic craftsmanship.

What materials are used to make the bookends? +

Each design is laser-cut from DC01 steel — a high-precision industrial grade that meets European standards. This material guarantees perfect flatness, strength, and long-term durability. Cutting is performed using state-of-the-art Trumpf laser machines by a specialized partner in Warsaw.

How are the creations designed? +

Everything begins with a hand sketch before the concept is finalized digitally. Each model is developed in-house, sometimes inspired by clients’ ideas — decorative projects, custom creations for companies, or collaborations with museums and cultural institutions. The entire process, from artistic concept to laser-cutting preparation, is mastered internally.

What finishes and colors are available? +

All pieces are finished with powder coating — an electrostatic paint process baked in an oven for a durable, uniform finish. Most models are available in matte black (RAL 9005), a timeless and elegant tone. Custom RAL colors can be produced on request.

What is your environmental approach? +

The steel used is fully recyclable and sourced from European suppliers. Powder paints are solvent-free and comply with EU environmental standards. Packaging is recyclable and partially made from recycled materials, in accordance with the environmental requirements of our partners, including the Réunion des Musées Nationaux – Grand Palais (Louvre).

The Bookends

Creations designed for your library, office, or reading space.

How stable are the metal bookends? +

Our metal bookends are engineered for maximum stability. Each model includes non-slip silicone pads under the base, ensuring perfect grip on any surface — wood, laminate, metal, or glass. The design also features an inner support tab holding the first books in place, creating a natural self-locking effect through their own weight. The precise steel bending provides a dual support point — the inner tab and the main base — delivering superior balance ideal for libraries, offices, and reading rooms.

What is the standard height of your bookends? +

The standard height of our bookends is 7.5 inches (19 cm), a size perfectly suited for most books — novels, essays, biographies, paperbacks, comic books, or children’s titles. Some designs are also available in 6.3 inches (16 cm) or 8.6 inches (22 cm) depending on the model. This format ensures the ideal balance between stability, grip, and aesthetics. Very large art books or oversized editions are not suitable for this type of support.

How do you handle quantities and production runs? +

Wall decorations are generally produced individually, depending on size, detailing, and subject complexity. Custom bookends can be produced from 16 units upward, in small or medium runs ranging from a few pieces to several hundred. Each project is evaluated individually to ensure a fair price, local European production, and consistent quality.
