The unique and beautiful set of bookends Vincent Van Gogh is inspired from the famous post-impressionist artist painting Bedroom in Arles.
Vincent van Gogh's life was marked by personal and artistic struggles. He was born in 1853 in the Netherlands and began his artistic career relatively late in life. Despite a short career, he created over 2,000 works of art, but experienced periods of depression and mental illness. Van Gogh found solace in creating art, exploring various styles and techniques throughout his life. He lived in France for much of his career, where he was influenced by the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. Among his most famous works, “The Room in Arles” is an emblematic example of his artistic talent. Created in 1888 during his stay in Arles, France, this striking canvas captures the simplicity and intimacy of his own bedroom. The bright, bold colors, curved lines and swirling patterns characteristic of his post-impressionist style are clearly visible in this work. Sadly, van Gogh's life ended tragically by suicide in 1890 at the age of 37, but his artistic legacy lives on through masterpieces such as "The Room at Arles," which continues to to inspire and influence generations of artists and art admirers.
Three versions were created by Vincent between 1888 and 1889 when he stayed in the city of Arles in Provence, south east of France.
