The bookend Partridges in the snow drawns inspiration in the famous painting from Jozef Chelmonski presented in the gallery of the Warsaw National Museum.

Jozef Chełmoński (1849-1914) was a renowned Polish painter, famous for his works relating to rural life and nature. He is considered one of the leading exponents of realism in Poland. His paintings often depict scenes from the daily lives of Polish peasants, highlighting their hard work and close ties to the land. He was particularly adept at capturing natural light and the nuances of the seasons in his canvases.

Chełmoński also traveled to France, where he was influenced by the artistic movements of the time, particularly Impressionism. This influence can be seen in some of his later works, where he experiments with light and color. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and he has helped to raise the status of realist art in Poland.

His paintings continue to be appreciated for their sincere depiction of rural life and their exceptional artistic quality.
