This stunning bookend Jewess with Oranges, is inspired by a famous painting by the great Polish painter Aleksander Gierymski. Created between 1880 and 1881, the painting was acquired by the National Museum of Warsaw in 1928. However, it was looted by the Germans during the war and only reappeared in 2011 at an antiques market in Lower Saxony, Germany. The painting will be returned to the National Museum after Poland has paid compensation to its owner.
A second version of this painting, entitled The Jewess with Lemons, is on display at the Silesian Museum in Katowice, Poland. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
